The production of these Doughboy dolls started around 1971 during the original "Poppin' Fresh" campaign for Pillsbury. Originally, the Doughboy was sold in a box along with a stand. Although, the Pillsbury symbol and the Doughboy's eyes were brighter back then. Also, this doll pictured here is probably a reissue from the 90s. Besides, the logo still read "BEST XXXX" under the Pillsbury text around 1971 up until the late 70s.

well i wouldnt say its a reissue considering it says 1971 stamped/embeded on the doll and it belonged to my older siblings that were all born in the 70's
Thanks for the history on it though, lol

...oh, and the copyright on the doll featured here reads "© TPC 1971", while the Poppin' Fresh/Pillsbury Playthings copyright reads "© 1971, The Pillsbury Company, Minneapolis, Minn." I haven't got one of those yet, but I managed to find the copyrights on several pictures found on eBay.
